Man located after crashed vehicle was found abandoned

UPDATE 12.20pm: The driver of a vehicle involved in a traffic crash on the Capricorn Highway near Westwood has been located.

The man was located a short while ago in bushland near Mount Hay, not far from the crash site.

He is being assessed by officers from the Queensland Ambulance Service.

Earlier: Police are searching bushland on the Capricorn Highway near Westwood after a single vehicle rollover on Sunday night.

Around 7.30pm police were notified by a passing motorist of a crash on the highway, about 12km east of Westwood, involving a four wheel drive.

The vehicle was located on its roof, abandoned in the middle of the road at the crash site, with a small amount of blood found in the car.

The four wheel drive, which has since been towed, suffered significant damage, with the driver's side door being crushed after it rolled and hit a tree.

Police, including a police dog, searched bushland on Sunday night following reports a man was seen entering the bush.

Enquiries to date have so far failed to locate the owner of the vehicle or the driver.

It is believed that only one man was in the vehicle at the time of the incident.

A search involving police and SES is underway.
