Sea Eagles light on for big boppers

MANLY is putting on a brave face despite the front-row crisis that has engulfed the team.

Five-eighth Blake Green has backed the Sea Eagles to cover for the absence of three of their props to injury and suspension.

Not only have they lost Martin Taupau and Addin Fonua-Blake after they both received two-week bans, but recruit Lloyd Perrett will also be sidelined for a month after suffering an eye socket injury during the round-one defeat to Parramatta.

Darcy Lussick, meanwhile, remains sidelined with a wrist issue.

The Sea Eagles take on the Rabbitohs on Saturday at Lottoland.

"It's going to be a tough one for us against a real physical side in South Sydney but it's an important one for us to front up in the middle," Green said.

"It gives a few blokes an opportunity who probably thought they weren't going to get one so early in the season. But it's just another challenge and we've got to step up and be ready."

Taupau copped his ban for a 13th-minute shot on Suaia Matagi that was assessed as a grade-one shoulder charge by the match review committee.

Fellow prop Fonua-Blake accepted the same punishment for an off-the-ball hit on Corey Norman in the final minute of the 20-12 loss.

Teammate Jake Trbojevic denied enforcer Taupau needed to rein in his aggression.

"That's the way he's always played and it's been really good for him. I thought he had a really good game on the weekend, he was really physical up front, really strong," he said.

"He's playing his best when he's aggressive. It's hard to change someone like that.

"There might be a few little things he could tweak, but you don't want to take the aggression out of him because that's when he plays his best footy."
