Science studies at UQ for Gladstone girl Micaela
GLADSTONE girl Micaela Oost heads to the big smoke soon, starting her new life.
The Divine Avenue shop assistant will say good-bye to her job and home for the next three years, after accepting her first preference offer to study a BSc at Brisbane's University of Queensland.
The 17-year-old will major in bio medicine. "One day I want to work in the oncology field, just because there's been a lot of cancer in my family and I guess I've been inspired to do something," she said.
But Gladstone will always be her home.
"It's a tight-knit community here. You know people have your back."
