Schulz guides Aussies to final

HOCKEY: Sunshine Coast export Jodie Schulz scored with eight minutes remaining to help Australia progress to the decider of the Hawke's Bay Festival in New Zealand.

Schulz starred for the Hockeyroos as they dominated the host nation in their 4-2 victory.

The Hockeyroos will meet world No.2 Argentina in today's final.

Argentina defeated the Aussies 3-0 in the tournament's opening match.

Coach Adam Commens said he was pleased with how his troops stuck to the game plan against the Black Sticks while under pressure.

"The first half of the match was very good. and we executed well, which saw New Zealand come out even harder in the second half," he said.

"There is still a few things that we can improve on coming into tomorrow's match. However, overall it was a good result.

"Being able to get a win against New Zealand today on their home soil and in front of their home crowd was pleasing.

"We have stepped it up a notch since the first match against Argentina."

"Our team will be better prepared and equipped to handle the strengths of Argentina."

The match will be available to watch live on the Hockey Australia website at hockey.org.au.
