School's drummers in first show

LAST month Toolooa State High School’s very own Sho-Ryu-Daiko group made its first-ever public performance at the Gladstone Multicultural Festival on the marina stage.

This special group of performers is the school’s Japanese drumming ensemble.

The team played Hana-bana on the main and side stages, setting the crowd alight with the massive sound of the Japanese drums.

Sho-Ryu-Daiko also performed at the Toolooa State High School welcoming parade for visiting teachers and students from Saiki, Japan.

The performance was well- received and enjoyed by both Japanese and Australian staff and students.

The team has made a big impression on the Gladstone community with a large number of requests coming in for the band to perform at a variety of different events over the coming weeks and months.

Any students wishing to join the team or find out more information about the Sho-Ryu-Daiko should contact Mr Greg Hale at Toolooa SHS on 49 714 342.
