Scholarships awarded at Tooloola
TOOLOOA State High School is giving children across the region a great start to high school with their prestigious new scholarships.
Nine Year 7 students from Clinton, South, St Stephen’s and Kin Kora primary schools have received these scholarships to attend Toolooa in 2011 for instrumental, sporting, academic and performing arts excellence.
Yesterday the awards were presented to Savanna Schulze and Jay Mann at South Primary School in a ceremony with their parents, peers, teachers and special guests.
Jay received the award for sporting excellence as he plays rugby league, soccer and touch football.
“I really like sports and I am looking forward to playing rugby league in high school,” he said.
Savanna’s award was for instrumental excellence and her talents with the violin.
“I applied because I love music and it will be good to keep playing in high school,” Miss Schulze said.
Both students are excited to start high school and were elated to receive their scholarships.
Other scholarships winners will be presented with their certificates after the September school holidays.
