Schapelle Corby's family demanded $2m for story: report

SCHAPELLE Corby's family reportedly demanded a whopping $2 million for the exclusive story on their daughter's release after years in a Bali prison for drug trafficking.

Advertising and media website Mumbrella reported that Seven had landed the deal after a bidding war between them, Channel 9, Ten and magazine groups Bauer and Pacific Magazines.

Numerous outlets reported that Corby was picked up by Seven's Sunday Night reporter Mike Willesee and whisked away to a secret location.

Channel Seven has also been given access to Corby's mother Ros' home on the Gold Coast to see a group of supporters toasting the release of her daughter after seven years.

There have been reports of between $1m and $3m quoted for the rights to the story.

Industry sources have suggested the family has demanded a minimum of $2m.

Seven was forced to make a payout to Schapelle's sister Mercedes in 2008 after a jury found she had been defamed by Today Tonight.
