Sawed-off shotgun and drugs found on Wattle St

WHILE police were busy arresting a man who they allege bashed a Gladstone couple with a didgeridoo on Thursday night, in a separate incident police found a sawed-off shotgun in the possession of a young man.

The 19-year-old man was stopped by police around 8pm on Wattle St and after a short search uncovered a sawed-off shotgun, ammunition for the shotgun and drugs.

Detective Sergeant Chris Lindsay said police found a small amount of the drug ice which was believed to be for personal use.

The man is due to appear in court at a later date.
