Saints outgun Swans

HE'S an absolute ripper.

And Aussie Rules gun Daniel Hawkins gave BITS Saints its win on Saturday afternoon.

It was close, but the lads defeated Yeppoon Swans at home 10.12 (72) to 8.10 (58).

Assistant coach Luke Moriarty said the win belonged to Hawkins.

The A-grade side was down at half time. But Moriarty said Hawkins "turned it on" at the start of the third quarter.

The centre-half forward made the first three clearances. "It got us going," Moriarty said.

He conceded that the Swans were tough opponents - especially in the soggy conditions.

"They were good in the wet."

Saints player Michael Towan copped a knee to the head in the last five minutes.

After a lengthy wait in the emergency room at the Gladstone Base Hospital, Towan left with five stitches.

MUDDIES FLOG BROTHERS

Rocky Aussie rules side Brothers copped an absolute flogging from our boys.

The A-grade Mudcrabs walloped the opposition 21.16 (142) to 3.2 (20). Ruckman Lucas Harry said it was a "hard and messy" game.
