Sad puppy dog tale needs a happy ending

HOW can you resist these faces? Siblings Scrappy and Luna are desperately in need of a new home.

The two-year-old Labrador cross German shepherds were surrendered to the Gladstone Friends of the RSPCA after their family relocated to the UK.

Friends volunteer Jan Baines said it was a "heart-breaking" story in need of a good ending.

She said she hoped the next chapter in the book of the dogs' lives would be a happy one.

"They must have been very loving and caring owners as it shows in these beautiful animals," Mrs Baines said.

She said the medium-sized dogs would do well in a family with older children.

"Don't let their size turn you off," Mrs Baines said. "This gentle pair are great walkers."

Their strong bond should not be broken, she said.

"They love playing with each other," Mrs Baines said. "They're always at one another's side, whether they are having a drink or playing

"I really feel it would have a bad effect on them if these dogs are separated."

The RSPCA is offering a special fee of $300 - a discount of around $200 - for anyone willing to take them on.

Mrs Baines said the dogs would be micro chipped, vaccinated and desexed.
