Blaze comes close to property before crews beat it back
UPDATE 11.50AM: Flames came within 50 metres of a Brendonna Rd property this morning, as Queensland Fire and Rescue Service Gladstone crew members battled an inaccessible blaze at Beecher State Forest.
No property or people were injured during the close call, which is believed to have occurred around 8am this morning.
The Department of Emergency Services has since lowered the severity of the incident, with fire crews working to build containment lines around properties along the stretch of road.
Calliope Rural Fire Brigade and Queensland Parks are currently at the scene.
A hazy smog created from preventative back burning measures has now disappeared across Gladstone.
UPDATE 10.50AM: Staff at the Brendonna Boarding Kennels and Cattery say they do not feel threatened by the neighbouring vegetation fire in Beecher State Forest this morning.
Despite workers at the pet hostel waking to a blanket of smoke, it seems the fire is posing no direct danger to any of the animals.
The business is located along the Dawson Highway in Burua and is a safe distance from the fire.
The fire has not affected the business of the boarding kennel.
Firefighters are continuing to fight the fire this morning.
The Queensland Fire and Rescue Service has just issued a high grass fire danger warning for the Central region.
Today is expected to bring high fire weather for parts of the region, which will include very hot and dry winds.
The service said high temperatures and relative low humidity could make it difficult to contain vegetation fires.
Firies are battling about 33 fires across the state.
EARLIER: As Gladstone residents woke to a blanket of smoke haze, it was confirmed crews from Parks and Wildlife had returned to the Beecher fire scene around 7am.
A Department of Emergency Services spokesperson said crews from Gladstone and rural brigades had been fighting the vegetation fire until 11pm last night.
No properties are under threat from the blaze.
Rural brigades returned to the scene at 9am.
"The fire is burning safely in the containment lines," the spokesperson said this morning.
The grass fire started at Brendonna Rd, Beecher around 11pm on Wednesday.

UPDATE 1.15pm: Multiple crews are on scene at a fire burning in the Beecher State Forest, near Brendonna Rd, east of Calliope.
The fire broke out about 11pm yesterday and is burning in an inaccessible area.
Fire crews are conducting backburning operations on scene in an effort to contain the blaze.
A large amount of smoke will affect residents and motorists travelling along Brendonna Rd, Thomsen Rd and the Dawson Highway as firefighters work in the area.
The Queensland Rural Fire Service has asked motorists to drive to conditions.
There is no threat to property at this time.
EARLIER: Rural fire brigades are continuing to fight a grass fire near Calliope this morning.
It's believed the Calliope Rural Fire Brigade was fighting the blaze near Brendonna Rd, Burua around 1am this morning.
It's unknown how large the fire is at this stage, but Queensland Fire and Rescue Service Gladstone said it posed no direct threat to properties.
A Department of Community Services spokesperson said rural fire crews would continue to monitor the fire closely today.
