Campbell Newman: There will be no 2014 election

RUMOURS of a 2014 early election have been quashed.

Premier Campbell Newman has categorically ruled it out, telling 4BC he needed "every single day in this term" to complete the LNP's planned reforms.

Expected to call an election for March next year, Mr Newman told the "soothsayers and prognosticators" to "settle down" as "the election will be next year".

"People elect politicians to do the job, they expect us to get on with it," he said.

Mr Newman said he had a plan to get the economy going and there were strong signs that was now happening.

"We will be the lead economy in the next nine to 10 months," he said.
