Kevin Rudd may be moving back to the Sunshine Coast

FORMER Prime Minister Kevin Rudd and his wife Therese Rein are reportedly heading back to the Sunshine Coast to live.

They are selling their beloved home in the Brisbane suburb of Norman Park, where they have lived since 1994.

They reportedly want to spend more time at their home at Castaways Beach, just south of Noosa.

The Rudd family bought the luxury home for $3.1 million in 2011.

Mr Rudd was brought up in Nambour and was dux of Nambour High School.

He still has family on the Coast, and the family has regularly used the home as a getaway.

Tim Altass Real Estate principal Tim Altass said the listing for the Rudds' five-bedroom Brisbane home, with a wrap-around verandah, would be sold by tender.

"That's because it's a pretty special home and it's a hard one to price," Mr Altass said.

"Being a tender is also a bit easier for the Rudds, rather than a public auction."

Mr Rudd and Ms Rein paid $384,000 for the house in 1994. It is on an 800sq m block.
