Election spotlight on Gladstone with Rudd, Katter in town

HOLD onto your hats voters, there's double the election campaign fun in Gladstone on Monday with the Prime Minister and the leader of Katter's Australian Party heading on into town.

Prime Minister Kevin Rudd is making an appearance - so watch out if you're heading to the airport in the morning - for the second time in as many months.

He will join the ALP's Flynn candidate Chris Trevor to announce that a re-elected Rudd Labor Government would establish a new mining equipment, technology and services innovation partnership that would receive up to $16 million to 2016-17.

The funding, which is already allocated, is to be matched by industry and research partners.

Meanwhile Bob Katter, leader of the newly formed KAP, will join his Flynn candidate Richard Love to make an announcement at Spinnaker Park about 1pm.

KAP policies have focused on job creation, infrastructure establishment and support for Australian-owned businesses.
