AFL: Hawthorn has included new captain Jarryd Roughead and boom recruit Jaeger O'Meara in its squad for Friday night's JLT Community Series clash against Geelong.

Roughead will play his first match since the 2015 Grand Final after stepping away from the game for cancer treatment last year while O'Meara has missed the better part of two years due to ongoing knee issues.

Both shone in a recent intra-club match and are on track for Round 1.

The Hawks have also included free agency acquisition Ty Vickery, the former Tiger set to be a major part of the Hawks forwardline in 2017.

Fans will also get a look at youngsters James Cousins, Teia Miles, Dallas Willsmore and Kieran Lovell at the University of Tasmania Oval in Launceston.

Geelong will also run out several new faces.

Trade recruits Zach Tuohy, Aaron Black as well as draftees Brandan Parfitt, Tom Stewart, Zach Guthrie and Jack Henry will take the field.

However, the Cats will be without captain Joel Selwood and brother Scott with Daniel Menzel also missing.

It will also be the first time fans will get a look at Harry Taylor as a full-time forward as well as home-town hero Jackson Thurlow on his return from a knee reconstruction.
