Roosters veteran extends deal with club

FRESH after announcing Daniel Tupou's re-signing, the Roosters have locked in another key outside back.

Veteran fullback Michael Gordon's future appeared up in the air with NSW star James Tedesco joining the club next season.

But the former Panther, Shark and Eel has put pen to paper on a new one-year deal that will see him play on with the Roosters in 2018.

Gordon had previously indicated his intention to retire but will run around again, either as a winger or as a back up to Tedesco.

"Since day one, everyone at the Roosters has made me and my family feel welcome and at home, so that's a big reason I'm pleased to be extending my time here," Gordon told the club's website.

"From a footy perspective, I still feel like the body is really good and I've got something to offer. I'm enjoying my footy and being part of the team here at the Roosters."

In 16 matches for the Roosters this season, Gordon has notched 128 points.

He's scored 1488 points since making his NRL debut in 2006.

Roosters coach Trent Robinson said he was pleased to have Gordon locked in for 2018.

"Michael's class and experience has been a welcome addition to our squad this year," he said.

"Michael has brought a selflessness to the group, and consistently makes an integral contribution to our side. Aside from his on-field role, Michael is also a very good man, and its great news for our club to have him locked in to our plans for next season."
