Ronald McDonald visits for family fun day at Calliope

RONALD McDonald will visit Calliope on Saturday for a family fun day at the new Calliope Travel Centre.

The family fun day will run from noon to 4pm, with a special one-hour visit from Ronald McDonald at 12.30pm.

McDonald's Calliope Travel Centre restaurant is operated by Tony Ward, who has been part of McDonald's for 12 years.

Across Mr Ward's four restaurants in the region, including Kirkwood, Kin Kora and Gladstone City, Mr Ward employs more than 350 local residents.

Mr Ward said McDonald's Calliope Travel Centre had employed more than 90 local residents, with many positions catering for residents who needed flexibility because of school, study or family.

"The opening of McDonald's Calliope Travel Centre has helped create job and training opportunities for local residents as well as support of local community groups," he said.

"We have had such a warm welcome from the local community since our opening earlier this year.

"I look forward to meeting more of the community on Saturday and putting on a fun-filled day for all the family."

McDonald's Calliope Travel Centre is located at the Calliope Crossroads, corner of Dawson Highway and Bruce Highway, Calliope.
