Gladstone production perfect for unique Valentine's date

FOR an audience that desires a unique Valentine's Day evening, the Conspire Isis theatre group will be putting on a spectacular opening performance of Shakespeare's romantic comedy, A Midsummer Night's Dream at the Gladstone Marina outdoor stage tonight.

Theatre group organiser and producer Natisha Strudwick said the cast and crew were all excited and a little bit nervous.

"They are probably more excited though, and I always say that nerves mean you care," she said.

Most of the cast and crew are teenagers, mainly school students.

"It's not an accident that the opening night is on Valentine's Day," Ms Strudwick said.

A teacher at Gladstone State High School and talented actress herself, Ms Strudwick said she started the group a few years ago.

"The goal is to produce one play a year,'' she said.

"I've received Regional Arts Development Funding (RADF) for last year and this year.

"They've been really supportive."
