Rock in the New Year at a beach party or other events

THERE might not be fireworks, but the Gladstone's pubs and clubs are hosting a range of gigs to ring in the New Year in style.

The Harvey Road tavern and the Reef and Agnes Water tavern are all hosting live gigs to get you dancing.

Harvey Road Tavern is gearing up to host the biggest gig in town with a huge beach party planned.

The event is free with live entertainment from local duo the G-bangers.

If you're down south, the Agnes Water Tavern is rocking out with live music from band Six Beers Deep from 8.30pm to 1.30am.

"Six Beers Deep is a great rock cover band and with Summer and Corona promotions it's going to be all about the rock and a summery vibe," said Brenda Quartermain from the tavern.

"The place was packed last year with 300, and we are expecting a big one this year."

The pub has free entry and two courtesy buses for patrons from the Agnes Water or Seventeen Seventy area if you call 4974 9469.

At the Reef Hotel, former Australian Idol contestant Dan England is playing live and the bar is open late with the previously planned Hellfire party cancelled.

Lightbox will be open from 3pm and has extended its licence until 2am.

Entry is free with live entertainment all night and a dress code applies from 7pm.

As for other venues, Gladstone Yacht Club shuts at midnight and the Central Lane Hotel is business as usual.
