Robertson, Bond blast huge total

BALLBREAKERS went on a scoring blitz against Dieselec Devils during the Homeloans Etc Twenty20 round on Sunday.

Adam Bond blasted 77 off 32 balls, and Andrew Robertson collected 41 off 30, as the team amassed 8-232.

Devils bowler Callum Douglas was the best bowler on the day, snaring three wickets for seven runs, while teammate Tim Taylor took 2 for 14 off three.

The Devils were bedevilled from the start, skittled for 93 off 14.3 overs. Douglas could hold his head high for his performance though, as he was the pick of the batsmen, scoring 19 from 23 deliveries, and Taylor too helped out with 18 off 10.

In the opening match, the Presidents XI got to 106 off 15.5 overs, their six batsmen getting to the total against Gladstone Rebels.

Of the willow wielders, Chris Foura hit an impressive 34 off 20 balls, while Jake Thompson scored a run a ball, compiling 28.

Steve Austin was the pick of the Rebels bowlers, with 1 for 6 off three overs and Brett Penridge chimed in with 1 for 15 off three.

In the eighth over of the Rebels innings, they overtook the score thanks to a few gaps in the field. Dave Lewis plundered 52 from 18 and Gavin Ogden 17 from 7.

In the next match, Dirty Mutts took on NFI, who batted first and registered 128 from 17.1 overs. Andrew Carris hit a handy 32 off 23 balls, and David Heymer struck 25 from 24.

Terry Sawyer was the best with the ball, taking 3 for 14 from three, and Darren Box 2 for 14 off two.

Dirty Mutts made the total in 17.2 overs, and Mark Walker was the pick of the batsmen, making 30 off 23 deliveries, and Nathan Coombs added 17 from 11.

For NFI, Joel Rouse’s bowling figures of 1 for 16 off three were the best and Carson Jones snared 1-15.
