Brisbane Roar to be tested by Urawa Red Diamonds

IT'S crunch time for the Brisbane Roar in its Asian Champions League match against Japan's Urawa Red Diamonds at Saitama Stadium tonight.

The men in orange lost 1-0 at home against Beijing Guoan last Wednesday night in a game they should have won, but could not capitalise on their opportunities.

The going does not get any easier with an away clash against the 2007 Asian club champions.

The Brisbane outfit will be desperate to notch up its first win in the 2015 club continental tournament, as well as its first ever win in Asia.

The Red Diamonds' squad has been strengthened by the addition of striker Zlatan Ljubijankic (pictured).

There is expectation in Japan that Ljubijankic, a Slovenian international, will start against the Roar, which will be a test for the Brisbane defenders.

Experienced defender Shane Stefanutto, who wasn't in the Roar squad for the 2-all draw against the Glory in the A-League on Saturday night, is tipped to come into the starting line-up for Corey Brown.

Against Beijing, Jade North and Luke DeVere marshalled the centre of defence.

Veteran North has been an ever-present at the back, and could be due a rest under the team's rotation policy.

Also tonight, defending champions Western Sydney will take on the 2013 ACL champion, Guangzhou Evergrande, at Pirtek Stadium.

The two teams were involved in two heated quarter-final matches last year in the Wanderers' march to the title.
