Roadworks delay travel for up to an hour
DRIVERS using the Boyne Valley end of Blackmans Gap Road have been advised to prepare for lengthy delays or use an alternative route as roadworks are carried out.
Delays are expected from Monday to Wednesday.
Engineering Services portfolio spokesman Leo Neill-Ballantine said profiling works on the road shoulder would occur between 6am to 6pm, and traffic delays at times could extend to up to an hour.
"The works will occur along the single lane range section of the road, and will include excavation and replacement of gravel shoulders and drainage works," Cr Neill-Ballantine said.
"Heavy equipment will be present for road excavation, and the nature of the works and location will require the road section, at times, to be fully closed as excavation works progress.
"This section of road has been identified as requiring work to fix areas where the road has been failing."
Message boards, traffic controllers and signage will be in place with motorists encouraged to drive carefully in the area and adhere to all traffic directions.
"Motorists wishing to avoid the possibility of lengthy delays are encouraged to consider using alternative travel routes to and from the Boyne Valley," Cr Neill-Ballantine said.
