Roadworker in serious condition from concrete slab 'crush'
A 39-year-old male roadworker suffered a 'crush injury' underneath cement-stabilised sand.
Ambulance Media said paramedics were called to Alex Pike Dr, Raleigh at 9.45am.
The man's lower body was briefly trapped when cement-stabilised sand dislodged.
He was rushed to Coffs Harbour Health Campus in a serious condition but according to Mid North Coast Local Health District Media, the man is now in a stable condition.
Lend Lease who is carrying out work on the site has stopped work on all similar activities on the project.
Workcover has been notified of the incident and work on the Nambucca Heads to Urunga Pacific Hwy upgrade has been halted.
Roads and Maritime Services confirmed the worker is employed by a subcontractor engaged by Lend Lease.
RMS said it will work with WorkCover, Police and Lend Lease as part of an investigation into the incident.
