Pat Richards stars in controversial win over Eels

WESTS Tigers winger Pat Richards was awarded an eight-point try in another controversial NRL victory over Parramatta.

On paper it appeared to be that the Tigers coasted to a 22-6 victory.

But with eight minutes to go the game was still in the balance, the Tigers clinging to a 10-6 lead when Eels forward Anthony Watmough hit the arm of hooker Robbie Farah who lost the ball.

Replays showed Farah had dropped the ball but the video referee did not alter the on-field decision to reverse the scrum feed and the Tigers scored through Richards in the same set of six.

Richards was awarded an eight-point try after being hit heavily in the head as he crossed the try line.

The 32-year-old winger then laid on a try for halfback Luke Brooks in the last minute of the game.

Richards, 32, who continues to break records for the Wests Tigers, had a terrific game scoring a try and kicking three goals to go with one line break and two try assists.
