Revegetation job at Tannum Millennium Esplanade

WORK has started to revegetate an area along the coastal foreshore at Tannum Sands.

The project is part of Gladstone Regional Council's shoreline erosion management plan and will focus on the foreshore at Millennium Esplanade and Oaks Rd.

Cr Colin Chapman said large areas of the foreshore had lost native trees and shrubs, leaving the area prone to erosion.

"The dead casuarina trees will be replaced with new ones, while the vegetation will be enhanced with grasses, vines, shrubs and trees appropriate to the area."

Cr Chapman said the maintenance and installation of fencing would also help stabilise the foreshore by encouraging the use of designated walkways and beach access points.

Public access pathways to the beach areas may be temporarily redirected.
