Resurfacing works start in rural towns

ASPHALT resurfacing work will occur on various streets in Raglan, Ambrose and Mount Larcom from today.

The works are part of a $2 million contract awarded to Fulton Hogan Industries for asphalt resurfacing on urban roads and car parks.

Mayor Gail Sellers said the program would continue into 2015.

"The whole program will include asphalt resurfacing on 77 streets across the region in areas of Benaraby, Mount Larcom, Raglan, Ambrose, Calliope, Boyne Island, Gladstone, Turkey Beach, Rosedale and Agnes Water," she said.

Cr Sellers said the asphalt resurfacing program was starting earlier than the previously anticipated mid-January start.

"Contractor availability has brought the start of the asphalt resurfacing forward, although the program may be subject to changes and dependent on weather," she said.

Asphalt resurfacing will be carried out on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in Raglan, Ambrose and Mount Larcom, with little impact expected for residents.

On the schedule today is Holly, Langmore and Paterson Sts in Raglan.

On Thursday work will be carried out in Sinclair, Tummon and Thorogood Sts, Ambrose, and on Friday in Bismark and Davis Sts, Mt Larcom.
