Results starting to come for BITS
Finally for the first time this season I had neally a full senior team to choose from.
We went confident into game against last year's premiers Yeppoon with the team we had.
My only concern was how we might gel together early in the game.
It was a very competitive first quarter with both team hitting the contest hard. Our effort was fantastic and the game plan was working well.
We had all the play in the second quarter but just couldn't covert this to on the scoreboard. We kicked 2 goals 6 behinds and could of scored alot more. I thought we should of been 4-5 goals up at half time but only led by 11 points.
The third quarter was a real arm wrestle until they kicked the last 2 goals of the quarter which put them 5 points up at the break. Unfortunately they kicked the first goals of the last and then ran over the top of us by 6 goals.
It was a great effort but the boys and not converting early in the game took its toll.
The Backline was absolutely fantastic and stood really tall as a group it is becoming a really strong group led by our two captains Jake Mostert and Jordan Lockett and also experienced Brendan Clarke.
We welcomed back Steven Pugh in the midfield who was best on for us amd dominated around the ground. Also first gamer Shannon Smith had a outstanding game for the club. Up forward another first gamer at Senior level was u/17 Kane Haua who presented well when he had his opurtunity.
The reserves had a hard day at the office against a very strong Yeppoon side. They battled all day and didnt let the club down. Our best players were Jason Saatci and also veteran Damon Stebbings.
This week we travel to play Parkhurst which is a must win for both grades. Confidence and moral is definitely improving and we need to start seeing some results going our way for the effort the boys are putting in.
