Residents unite in stand against domestic violence

GLADSTONE residents can unite against domestic and family violence at a public rally this Sunday.

The Safer Families Better Communities rally - a statewide, local government campaign hosted by Gladstone Regional Council in partnership with Gladstone Women's Health Centre - will be held at Apex Park, Gladstone at 10am.

Gladstone Region Mayor Cr Gail Sellers encouraged the whole community to attend the rally.

"We should no longer tolerate the silence and ignorance that have surrounded domestic and family violence, and acknowledge that we all have a role to play," she said.

Women's Health Centre manager Tash Fee said Gladstone's own unique campaign against domestic and family violence - "Not in Our Town" - would be launched at the rally.

Supporters are invited to wear red and white, with accents of purple. White arm bands will be available at the event.

Donations will be collected to support the "Not in Our Town" campaign.

For more information contact the Women's Health Centre on 4979 1456.
