Rescue training drills on the harbour

THINGS were getting wet and wild in Gladstone Harbour today.
The CQ Capricorn Helicopter Rescue with the Gladstone Water Police, QCLNG and Queensland Ambulance Service organised a series of drills to prepare rescue staff for potential emergencies as traffic on the harbour becomes busier.
More than 27 drills were conducted, including hoist rescues from a police boat to the chopper.
QCLNG also used the Riverside Catalina vessel during the drills.
Gladstone District Water Police Sergeant Jeff Barnett said the day was an overall success.
"It's exercises like these that go on to strengthen and develop our protocols," Sgt Barnett said.
