Barnaby will visit Gladstone to discuss biosecurity, exports

AGRICULTURE Minister Barnaby Joyce will visit Gladstone on Tuesday to discuss the future of meat exports from Gladstone harbour and the fire ant eradication program.

Flynn MP Ken O'Dowd will host Mr Joyce, who will be briefed on the collaborative effort between the federal and state governments to help eradicate fire ants that were found at Fisherman's Landing late last year.

The visit comes as the Federal Budget secured a $20 million commitment to biosecurity rapid response.

Mr Joyce will then meet with Gladstone Ports Corporation chief Craig Doyle and representatives from Gladstone's cattle industry to speak about the future potential to increase agricultural exports through the Port of Gladstone.
