Recognition for cultural diversity contributors

QUEENSLANDERS who have contributed to the state's cultural diversity have the opportunity to be recognised for their achievements.

Multicultural Affairs Minister Glen Elmes said on today nominations were open for this year's Premier's Cultural Diversity Awards.

"Our culture and lifestyle is made all the more vibrant by the contribution of migrants who've chosen to call Queensland home," he said.

"Whether you know of a business that prioritises cultural diversity in the workplace or an active community volunteer, I encourage people to nominate for these prestigious awards.

"This is an opportunity to not only acknowledge the inspiring work done by many across our state to assist newly arrived Queenslanders, but also those who have supported the values of cultural diversity within the wider community.

"These awards celebrate achievements that promote the growth and development of strong culturally diverse communities across Queensland."

Mr Elmes said nominations closed on June 16 and winners would be announced during Queensland Cultural Diversity Week.
