TWO successful rounds down, Central Queensland Drag Racing Association is holding the third round of the 2014 competition on Saturday.

Beginning with qualifying from 12pm, the third round is feared to not be as big a hit, after a calendar change back in January.

President Glenn Williams says predicting numbers is difficult.

He is unable to put a number on the racers who may take the opportunity at Benaraby.

"That is a good question. Some people don't realise we amended the schedule in January," he said.

"If we can have anything like the first two, we will be very happy."

A different start compared to last season, hampered by the floods in early 2013, this year has shown a lot of promise, so far.

Locals have even made the most of the competition, after a slow start in the first outing.

"In the first round, the Bundaberg club cleaned up in most brackets, but last round a lot of locals stepped up to the plate," Williams said.

Scrutineering begins at Benaraby Raceway at 11am and racing will blast off from 6pm.
