Gladstone oil refinery reaches milestone
GLADSTONE's oil refinery has re-refined 10 million litres of lube oil in 10 months - enough to run two million cars for a year.
Northern Oil Refinery operators said the milestone reflected a growing industry appetite to embrace the highest standard of waste oil recycling.
The $65 million re-refinery, operated by Southern Oil Refining and J.J Richards & Sons, opened in March to give new life to waste oil collected from truck fleets, heavy vehicle operators, mines and local governments.
Southern Oil managing director Tim Rose said his company's re-refining process produced no waste.
