WHILE every driver in the World Rally Championship has exceptional talent, none of them can match the skills and personality of American Ken Block.

You will not believe what this guy can do with a motor vehicle.

Ken will be one of the heroes of Rally Australia and his cult following will surely follow.

“I wouldn’t like to pick one favourite trick of Ken’s,” said Rally Australia general manager, Michael Masi. “It’s always very easy viewing from our side though!”

A week before Block arrives on the Coffs Coast for the 10th round of this year’s World Rally Championship, the 33 year-old will be taking his gymkhana show to Melbourne where a large crowd is expected to gather at Calder Park to see spectacular driving stunts in his Ford Fiesta. More dates are expected to be announced soon.

Masi admits he’s in awe of the Californian.

“The guy is amazing, he’s a nutcase but he’s amazing,” he said.

“Ken Block is an amazing personality.

“He’s got one of the most hit sites on You Tube and to see some of the exploits that he has, he’s different.”

The Rally Australia chief pointed out though that what Block does is an example to young drivers of how they should respect the road and the dangers a driver faces behind the wheel.

“One of the things to Ken’s credit is that he promotes safe driving in everything that he does,” he said.

“It’s very much under a controlled circumstance in the safest possible manner with all safety features in place.”
