Rain returns to region while coast cops it
UP to 5mm of rain is forecast to fall in Gladstone on Friday, as other parts of the state get a drenching.
Drivers have been urged to take care on the roads, with Gladstone police already attending a number of traffic crashes this morning.
A partly cloudy day is forecast, with isolated showers contracting to the coast during the evening.
There's a chance of thunderstorms in the south-west during this afternoon and evening.
Meanwhile, the state's south-east is in for a dreary and wet weekend.
In the past 24 hours, parts of the Sunshine Coast including Noosa Heads have had 32mm of rain, with the next 48 hours to bring up to 100mm in some areas before a coastal trough heads out to sea on Sunday.
Most of the area, including Gympie to the north, can expect closer to 30mm,
Weatherzone meteorologist Rob Sharpe said Ipswich and Toowoomba were in for scattered rains of about 10mm for the next 24 hours, with less for those further inland.
Gladstone has had 7mm in the past 24 hours and Rockhampton 2mm.
A late shower is expected in Gladstone on Saturday, but Sunday should be mostly sunny with a top of 24 degrees.
