Rail carriage and vehicle torched

FIRE engulfed an abandoned rail carriage about 9pm tonight and had to be extinguished by QFRS personnel.

The blaze destroyed the carriage in what was suspected to be a deliberate arson.

Police and QAS attended and no one was injured during the fire or believed to be at the scene when emergency services arrived.

It was possibly the second such arson, after an earlier suspected torching of a vehicle on Alf O'Rourke Drive.

At this stage it is unknown whether both cases are linked.

More details to come online and in The Observer.
