Race to reach the Summit for state's drag racers
DRAG RACING: Benaraby raceway will heat up this weekend with the Summit Racing Queensland Championship Series Final Round.
This round will feature 1/8 mile racing and will attract racers from around the state.
Central Queensland Drag Racing president Col Connors said the race meet would be one of the best for spectators and racers.
"Over 100 racers have nominated for the meet and will feature Supercharge Outlaw to Junior Bike and Junior Dragster," he said.
Connors said races were open to all competitors and that racing would come down to the best vehicle on the day.
"There are quite a few from Benaraby racers who can take the points and everyone has a chance to win," he said.
There is a fun element to the race event with a Friday open race meet for anyone wanting to see how their vehicle performs on the drag strip.
"On the Friday night the competitors have a test and tune and also there is a 'Race your mate' for anyone who wants to see how their car goes over the raceway," Connors said.
"Providing they meet safety requirements and don't mind getting put up against a proper drag race vehicle it can be a lot of fun for them."
The Friday night Off St race meet starts with gates opening at 5pm and racing from 6-10pm.
Adults are $10, children 13-16 $10, members $5 and children under 13 are free.
Saturday race action starts with the gates opening at 8am, qualifying from 11am-3.30pm and racing at 4.30pm. Adults are $20, children 13-16 $15, members $15 and children under 13 free.
