Rabbitohs stars are left dazed and confused

SOUTH Sydney's dual English international Sam Burgess was taken to hospital for neck scans after he was ferried off the Sydney Cricket Ground in a neck brace, with his mother Julie in the grandstand in tears.

The clash, which the Dragons won 8-6 in rain and slush, ended on a bizarre note as confused South Sydney captain Greg Inglis took a shot at a field goal in the dying seconds which could not have won the game.

Burgess collided with Dragons forward and fellow Englishman Mike Cooper who said he was "seeing stars" after the collision.

"I hope he's ok and nothing too serious," Cooper said after the game.

A Souths official later said Burgess had experienced slight tingling in his shoulder blade which sparked serious concern on the field.

He was taken by ambulance to hospital, but was reportedly not suffering from any pins and needles, and was also able to move his arms and legs.

St George led 8-6 at half-time with the second half failing to produce a point in the atrocious conditions

Earlier Melbourne Storm continued to keep the Warriors winless with a 21-14 victory, after the home side had led 14-12 with 10 minutes to go.

Both games featured controversial tackles with James Gavet (Warriors) and Paul Carter (Souths) both on report for attacking the legs of opponents.

Gavet cleaned up Storm fullback Cameron Munster, but the tackle looked legal and he may not have a case to answer.
