Queensland woman burned, tortured for weeks, police say

A YOUNG woman suffered broken bones and head-to-toe burns while enduring an agonising three weeks of torture before she was discovered near death at a unit in an upmarket Brisbane suburb, police allege.

It is alleged the 21-year-old woman's partner, Nicholas John Crilley, phoned paramedics in a panicked state, which led to her being found alive but severely injured at a Bulimba unit on July 2.

Crilley was arrested more than a week later after a dramatic police chase and appeared in court yesterday charged with torture, acts intended to disfigure, acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm, deprivation of liberty and supplying a dangerous drug.

His alleged victim remained in a critical condition in an induced coma last night, and it is understood police will allege she was tortured over a three-week period.

But police say they have no clue where the crimes were committed.
