Towns could receive up to $1.5m in sports funding
SMALL and remote communities could receive up to $1.5 million for sporting and recreation infrastructure projects under a new Queensland Government program.
Councils, not-for-profit sport or recreation organisations and not-for-profit community organisations in remote and regional communities will receive priority for the $20 million Get Playing Plus initiative.
"Investments ranging from $400,000 and $1.5 million will be granted for projects that provide new sport and recreation facilities or improve on existing facilities," Recreation and Sport Minister Steve Dickson said.
"Projects that target the increased participation of women and girls, accommodate multi-purpose, shared or co-located facilities, or that involve participation in outdoor recreation activities will be highly regarded."
Applications close on October 20.
