High range drink drivers end long weekend with court date

THEIR joy over the Queen's Birthday weekend got bleak for three very lubricated drink drivers in Gladstone.

Police arrested and charged three male drivers within six hours overnight Sunday and early Monday.

At 9pm on Sunday a driver aged 33 was stopped by police in Auckland St.

A breath test reading was allegedly 0.219 - over four times the legal blood/alcohol limit.

At 1.30am Monday police stopped and tested a 27-year-old driver in Calliope who allegedly blew a reading of 0.145.

Ninety minutes later, just after 3am police stopped and tested a man aged 33 in Barney St at Barney Point.

He was charged after allegedly having a positive reading of 0.133.

The men will appear in Gladstone Magistrates Court at a later date.
