Punch to the face ends in stabbing during altercation

A 47-year-old man has been charged following an incident that occurred at Robina yesterday evening.

Police will allege that two men became involved a verbal altercation on Glen Eagles Drive at around 6pm.

The verbal altercation resulted in a 22-year-old man allegedly striking a 47-year-old man in the face.

Following this, the 47-year-old allegedly produced a bladed instrument and threatened the other man, before another physical altercation ensued.

During the physical altercation, it will be alleged that he injured the other man with the bladed instrument.

The 47-year-old man from Robina has been charged with one count each of wounding, obstruct police and contravene direction.

He is scheduled to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on March 26.
