Public commended for patience as marina bridge reopens

THE Matthew Flinders Bridge at the Gladstone Marina is operating as normal with repair works completed on Sunday afternoon.

Gladstone region Mayor Gail Sellers thanked the community for their patience and understanding during last week's work.

"A full closure of the bridge to vehicular, pedestrian and large marine traffic had been in place to enable replacement of the hydraulic mechanism which operates the bridge's drawbridge action," Cr Sellers said.

"Weather conditions slightly prolonged the weekend work but the project was completed and the bridge re-opened after 3.30pm on Sunday.

"Council is aware that disruptions to this bridge can have significant community impacts and the public is to be commended for their patience as this urgent project was carried out."
