Project to flood-proof Glenlyon Rd is powering ahead
MOTORISTS on Glenlyon Rd will have noticed a lot of earthworks near the Phillips St roundabout.
Construction of the Tigalee Creek Water Detention Basin in Kathleen Shanahan Park is moving apace.
The project will reduce the incidence of water overtopping Glenlyon Rd during one-in-100 year rain events.
The project is expected to be completed by late November.
About 22,000 cubic metres of material have been carted to the proposed Boyne Tannum Sports Park.
Another 5000 cubic metres will be carted and stockpiled, at the council's Derby St facility, to be used as fill-material at the proposed Age Care Centre in Whitney St.
Landscaping works will follow earthworks and protection works.
