Prime Minister’s popularity drops

A POLL has shown a drop in the number of people satisfied with Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull's performance.

The latest Newspoll showed satisfaction with Mr Turnbull had dropped by five points to 39% - five points below the number of people dissatisfied with the Prime Minister, 44%. This took his rating into net negative for the first time.

Satisfaction with Mr Turnbull is down five points in two weeks, 14 points this year and 21 points since peaking at 60% in mid-November - a six-year high for a PM.

Dissatisfaction has risen three points to be double what it was in November.

The results published by The Australian showed the Coalition ahead on a two-party preferred basis, with 51% to Labor's 49%.
