Present for politician Liz from grateful hobby photographer

POLITICIANS come in for their fair share of scrutiny and are not often rewarded by the public.

For Independent State MP Liz Cunningham, a surprise canvas artwork from a grateful member of her electorate was a welcome treat to savour.

Hobby photographer Ian Watts presented the creative canvas to Ms Cunningham in her office yesterday morning.

Mr Watts said Ms Cunningham was a deserving recipient of the gift, as she always tried to help people in the community.

"She (Liz) looked after my sister-in-law and I saw Liz at EcoFest and told her I was going to do something special for her," Mr Watts said.

The life-long Gladstone resident said he had never taken a photography or Photoshop lesson before, and he hoped Ms Cunningham enjoyed his creation.

"Liz deserves it, she's not a politician, she's just a lovely, caring lady," he said.
