BASKETBALL: Recently re-signed Gladstone Port City Power 'The Capricornian' Surge's Mitch Knight has had great preparation ahead of the Under-20 Australian Junior Championships.

It is Knight's third state team selection for Basketball Queensland and he said he knew what to expect to play against the best U20 players in Australia.

"The physicality of the competition is pretty high as well and just the lead up to nationals is a massive part," Knight said.

The forward/centre has had a taste in an elite environment with the Brisbane Bullets' NBL development and training squad.

"It was a really good experience and I don't regret it at all and there were a lot of guys there with knowledge and experience as well," he said.

He's champing at the bit to get minutes for the Power in the Queensland Basketball League.

"The roster that we've got is amazing and it's going to be a good season and can't wait," he said.

The champs will be held in Canberra on February 13-17.
