Multiple unrelated power incidents across region
UPDATE 3PM: ERGON Energy crews were kept busy over the weekend with a number of unrelated power incidents within the Gladstone region.
Area operations manager Brian Dingle said crews kicked off the weekend in response to a power outage in the Barney Point area late Friday night, after 1451 customers lost power at 10.43pm when a transformer malfunctioned near Reef City Ford.
"The majority of customers were back on line by 2.40am," he said.
"The six customers outstanding were reinstated the following day at around 12pm."
On Saturday night 12,222 customers in parts of South Gladstone, Boyne Island, Tannum Sands, Calliope and the Miriam Vale area lost power after a high voltage circuit breaker tripped at the South Gladstone bulk supply substation.
Affected South Gladstone residents were back on line quickly within 11 minutes and remaining customers were reinstated within the hour by 6.20pm.
On Sunday Ergon crews attended a power disruption in West Gladstone after 1358 customers lost power when a pole-mounted air break switch malfunctioned near The Pines at 10.11am.
Power was reinstated at 12.11 pm after repairs were completed.
Mr Dingle said customers would have noticed power going on and off a number of times during this outage while crews switched around the fault.
He wanted to thank affected customers for their patience and understanding while crews responded to these outages and completed repairs.
EARLIER: NUMEROUS suburbs within the Gladstone region were without power on Saturday afternoon.
As of 5.43pm on Saturday Ergon Energy was aware of power interuptions in locations including, Baffle Creek, Barney Point, Beecher, Benaraby, Bororen, Boyne Island, Calliope, Miriam Vale, Tannum Sands, Turkey Beach, South Gladstone and West Gladstone.
The loss of supply is due to damage requiring emergency repairs.
Fault finding is in progress.
It is currently unknown when the power will be restored.
