Power restored in Gladstone after substation fault

UPDATE: 

POWER has been restored across Gladstone, but Ergon Energy crews will remain on scene over night to carry out repairs at the South Gladstone substation.

A Gladstone Fire Station spokesperson said they had been called out to the substation after nearby residents reported sparks and flames, but couldn't find anything on arrival.

They waited until Ergon Energy crews arrived before heading back to the station.

 

EARLIER:

ERGON Engery has confirmed there are 1900 customers without power in Gladstone after a fault in the high-voltage equipment at the South Gladstone substation.

Spokesperson Bob Pleash said power was lost just after 7pm.

"Multiple crews are travelling to inspect the site as we speak," he said.

"We hope to have the power back on as soon as possible."
