Post haste! Amount of mail sent booms for Mother's Day

MUMS love a parcel on their special day, especially when their loved ones are not able to be with them.

Post Offices around Gladstone have been spilling with people lately, queued out of the door on their lunchbreak waiting to send a present.

Jeanene Groves, Licensee of the South Gladstone Post office on Toolooa St, said her shop had been inundated with people.

"We've noticed an increase in articles this week being sent to lots of different places," she said.

"We've probably posted about 400-500 packages. A lot of the time they are just a nick knack or a card. A few food processors have been sent, too."

But those who leave posting to the last minute are taking a gamble, Jeanene said.

"There's always the urgent people who express post, and they want to stay on the will!" she said.

Some parcels have been sent internationally, such as The United States, Fiji and the Philippines.

The Post Office on Toolooa St is open on Saturday from 9am-noon.
